Celebrating 30 Years of Saving Lives

A leading advocate for child passenger safety, AAA hosted an event in January 2008 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the first child safety seat law, which took effect in Tennessee in January 1978. To illustrate the importance of child safety seats, AAA displayed 392 new car and booster seats -- one representing each child who survived a crash in 2006 by being properly restrained in the devices. Following the event, the seats were donated to the D.C. Department of Transportation for distribution to needy local families. AAA highlighted results of a new survey on public awareness of child passenger safety laws.

AAA wishes to thank sponsors Dorel, Evenflo and Graco for donating the safety seats used in the celebration.
